The Program Manager - Volunteer Services is a dynamic, community-centered role that strategically connects people with purpose. As part of the People Division and reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this position ensures volunteers are welcomed, trained, supported, and connected meaningfully with Hopelink’s mission and services.
The Program Manager partners closely with program leaders and internal stakeholders in the Human Resources, Mobility, Community Services, Development, and Marketing & Communications programs to deliver consistent, high-quality volunteer experience.
This role requires someone who thrives on collaboration, loves being in communities with people, is highly sociable, and brings meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of volunteer program management.
Examples of what you will be doing:
- In partnership with Human Resources, Development, Community Services and other teams, determines and develops a strategy for volunteer needs
- In partnership with the Marketing & Communications teams, they develop comprehensive volunteer recruitment strategies using diverse media channels including social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Creates compelling digital content and campaigns that showcase volunteer impact stories and opportunities
- Build strategic partnerships with corporations, community organizations, schools, and faith communities to expand volunteer pipeline
- Represents Hopelink at community events, tabling opportunities, and networking functions to raise awareness and recruit volunteers; may partner with Development to participate in community outreach opportunities
- Maintains current list of volunteer opportunities across all Hopelink programs and sites
- Serves as the initial point of contact for all potential individual volunteers, explaining the application process and communicating requirements
- Provides referrals to other community volunteer opportunities when appropriate
- In collaboration with programs, develops and implements creative, meaningful volunteer recognition programs that honor contributions and deepen engagement (annual recognition, milestone celebrations, etc.)
Skills/Eligibility:
What qualities we are looking for:
- 3-5 years’ experience coordinating or managing volunteer programs, preferably in community services or nonprofit settings; experience with large-scale or multi-site volunteer programs strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience with volunteer recruitment, particularly using social media and digital marketing strategies
- Proven track record of planning and executing volunteer recognition events and engagement activities
- Experience with Volunteer Hub, Raisers Edge, or similar volunteer/donor databases
- Meticulous with data management, follow-through, and program administration; experience utilizing a database for program management
- Customer service experience: Natural connector who builds authentic relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
- Requirements: Valid driver’s license, Reliable personal transportation, Proof of current personal automobile liability insurance & must pass criminal background check
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and community outreach
- Regular work tasks involve moving items weighing up to 30 pounds, occasionally
