Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist - EFI (Job)
Description:
What you will do:
- Ensure day‑to‑day compliance with OSHA/MIOSHA and EPA requirements at the Ypsilanti facility; provide remote EHS support to Londonderry.
- Maintain and update safety programs including HazCom, LOTO, Emergency Action Plan, Fire Prevention, and PPE.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and follow up on corrective actions.
- Manage RCRA hazardous waste labeling, storage, inspections, and documentation.
- Assist with regulatory reporting: OSHA logs, EPCRA Tier II, RCRA Biennial Report.
- Maintain SDS database and chemical hazard communication systems.
- Conduct or coordinate EHS training for employees and new hires.
- Support incident reporting, investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
- Maintain EHS documentation, compliance records, and safety logs.
- Track and report EHS KPIs (injuries, near misses, waste, training performance).
- Assist with emergency preparedness activities and maintain emergency response equipment.
- Provide safety guidance to supervisors and employees; help reinforce a strong safety culture.
- Collaborate with corporate EHS on global programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate with external vendors, consultants, waste providers, and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Travel occasionally to Londonderry for audits, training, or investigations.
Skills/Eligibility:
This role may be a good fit if you have:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field.
- 2–5 years of EHS experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of:
- OSHA & MIOSHA regulations
- Hazard Communication (HCS/GHS)
- RCRA hazardous waste
- Basic environmental compliance (EPA)
- Experience conducting inspections, incident investigations, and delivering safety training.
- Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and interact effectively with operators and supervisors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EPCRA Tier II and RCRA Biennial reporting.
- OSHA 10‑hour or OSHA 30‑hour certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Familiarity with ergonomics or industrial hygiene basics.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
