Job Duties

 

  • Responsible for providing appropriate and accurate information to the public regarding Environmental Health Programs. Employee must exercise independent judgment to determine the exact nature of the contact and either address the request or identify the Environmental staff or professional responsible for issue at hand.
  • Responsible for providing continued guidance for the public working through complicated permit processes for their successful preparation of application materials.
  • Responsible for providing the public with required applications/permits for Environmental Health programs. Responsible for reviewing program applications/permits for completeness to assure all pertinent information and documents have be submitted.
  • Responsible for accurate data input of applications/permits into database.
  • Responsible for collecting and inputting fees into database.
  • Responsible for invoicing and issuing Environmental Health permits. Responsible for performing all aspects of Vital Records programs administration. Responsible for receiving, sorting and distributing incoming mail.
  • Assist the Environmental Health Division with special projects as assigned.
  • Responsible to respond to routine public records requests for the Public Health permanent records.

  • Excellent communication and outstanding customer service skills, including telephone communications.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as printers, copy machines and fax machines.
  • Ability to manage and maintain files, records and correspondence.
  • Ability to remain calm and work with compassion, in what can sometimes be a stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain standard for accuracy, completeness and efficiency in preparation of documents and records. Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Independently organized and self-motivated to complete required deadlines with simultaneously completing other tasks.
  • Must have proficient English writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and with the Public Health Team.

Education, Experience & Certifications

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 

  • Previous customer service experience.
