Overview
This job opportunity is for a 20-hour/week, graduate (master’s or PhD only), student staff employee position with the School of Public Health’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team for the 2026-2027 academic year (starting September 2026). This role works directly with the Associate/Assistant Dean and Director of EDI. This role requires remote and in-person participation.
Compensation for this 20-hour/week role is based on the UW Graduate School Salary Schedule. The AY26-27 schedule has not been published, but you can view the AY25-26 chart for a reference of the pay range for a pre-masters or pre-doctoral student levels: https://facstaff.grad.uw.edu/wp-content/uploads/2025-26_TA-RA-SA-salary-schedule.pdf This role also includes a tuition waiver and UW Graduate Student health insurance.
Job Description
This Graduate Student Administrative Staff Employee/Assistant position supports the administrative, logistical and programming needs of the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Team. Key duties of this role include:
?Attending meetings
?Establishing data collection, storage, and reporting
?Managing web materials and/or communications
?Providing general administration
?Assisting in developing programming
?Performing outreach to key stakeholders
?Assisting in planning or organizing events
Specific duties of this role include:
- Documenting current equity, diversity and inclusion efforts in SPH and share?regular updates through regular communications with stakeholders and/or on the SPH EDI webpage
- Providing logistical support to the EDI team on current projects and quarterly programming such as the monthly SPH EDI committee meetings.
- Developing effective and student-centered activities that promote building community, sharing resources and networking with partners.?
- Helping develop communications messages and graphics that highlight the EDI efforts at the school-wide level.?
- Working with school and community partners (such as ARCH) to co-design?and implement?additional?student-centered advocacy programming to promote a culture and dialogue of anti-racism and health excellence in public health?
- Working with other health professions schools in organizing enrichment and retention-based programming for SPH students.
- Managing?sphedi?email account?and responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.?

Skills/Eligibility:
To be eligible, you must:
- Be a graduate (master’s or PhD only) student enrolled in a University of Washington graduate program (ideally, School of Public Health).
- You must also be enrolled for the full 2026-2027 academic year.
- You must be able to work in-person for events, meetings and other logistics (though this role also incorporates remote work elements).
An ideal candidate will have:
- Demonstrated administrative professional experience
- Relevant program and event planning experience
- Strong written and spoken communciation skills
- A passion for community building and collaboration
- A dedication to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion.
