Position Summary
The Public Health Coordinator supports the firm’s toxic‑tort litigation, research, and public‑health advocacy efforts related to occupational disease. This is a unique position integrating scientific research, epidemiologic data management, public‑health reporting, and client‑centered advocacy work, with a particular focus on occupational lung disease related to artificial stone silica exposure.
Working closely with attorneys, medical and scientific experts, public‑health agencies, advocacy organizations, and media partners, the Public Health Coordinator analyzes and synthesizes complex medical and scientific information; manages large, litigation‑critical datasets; coordinates expert and client engagement; and contributes to public education, regulatory reporting, and policy initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct and synthesize public‑health and scientific research related to occupational and environmental disease.
- Analyze medical, epidemiological, and surveillance data to support litigation, expert development, and public‑health initiatives.
- Prepare summaries of scientific and public‑health information for legal, academic, regulatory, and public‑facing use.
- Maintain and manage internal public‑health and medical datasets used in case development, expert analysis, and reporting.
- Support coordination and communication with public‑health agencies, researchers, medical professionals, and advocacy organizations.
- Assist with reporting of occupational disease cases to appropriate public‑health authorities and support related regulatory efforts.
- Provide research and guidance related to healthcare access, insurance coverage, disability benefits, and other public‑health resources for affected individuals.
- Draft and support preparation of client narratives, educational materials, and advocacy documents for use in litigation, media, and public forums.
- Coordinate logistics and preparation for media engagement, public meetings, conferences, and educational events involving attorneys, experts, and affected workers.
- Organize and maintain scientific literature, research files, and public‑health documentation to ensure accessibility and accuracy.
Skills/Eligibility:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in public health, epidemiology, environmental health, occupational health, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience conducting research and analysis related to health, science, or public‑policy issues.
- Ability to review, interpret, and summarize scientific, medical, or technical information accurately.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Experience working with datasets, reports, or documentation requiring attention to accuracy and detail.
- Strong organizational and project‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, deadline‑driven environment.
- Proficiency with common productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, document management systems).
Preferred Experience
- Experience related to occupational disease, environmental exposures, workplace health and safety, or chronic disease research.
- Prior work supporting litigation, regulatory compliance, public‑health reporting, or policy or advocacy initiatives.
- Experience coordinating with external stakeholders such as public‑health agencies, researchers, medical professionals, community organizations, or advocacy groups.
- Familiarity with public‑health data sources, surveillance systems, or government health reporting processes.
- Experience assisting with preparation of educational materials, reports, or public‑facing content related to health or science.
- Experience working in a legal, academic, nonprofit, or public‑sector environment.
