Description:

What you will be doing

  • Support implementation of FD’s safety strategy at the project level, ensuring alignment with company procedures, EM 385-1-1, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the development and execution of project-specific safety plans, helping identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Conduct daily site walks to identify, document, and help resolve safety hazards and non-compliant conditions.
  • Develop and document Daily Risk Assessments (DRA) in accordance with company procedures and project requirements.
  • Participate in daily coordination meetings and pre-task planning discussions to support safe execution of work activities.
  • Evaluate safety equipment needs and coordinate with project teams to ensure materials are available for upcoming work.
  • Assist with incident investigations, including gathering information, documenting findings, and supporting corrective actions.
  • Provide first aid and emergency response support as needed and ensure proper documentation and follow-up care.
  • Support subcontractor safety oversight by identifying non-compliance and assisting with corrective actions.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings at prescribed intervals to reinforce hazard awareness and safe work practices.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, including inspections, observations, and incident records, in company systems (e.g., Origami).
  • Track safety observations and support trend analysis to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Skills/Eligibility:

What we are looking for

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of construction or safety experience required.
  • Working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
  • EM 385-1-1 40-Hour Certification (or ability to obtain) required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain).
  • Ability to identify jobsite hazards and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned tasks, and follow through with minimal supervision.
  • General knowledge of construction equipment, methods, and processes.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate, and control hazards using established safety practices.
