Description:

We are currently seeking a Safety Program Specialist to join our team as a member of our growing New Construction Mechanical division in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will focus on identification, elimination, and control of hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage by utilizing McKinstry safety standards and best practices. Additionally, some additional responsibilities you will have include:

Project/Field Safety Support

  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans.
  • Ensure compliance with McKinstry’s safety program and OSHA standards.
  • Support project teams with safety needs and lessons learned.
  • Conduct routine job site reviews and Safety Quality Assurance Reviews as needed.

Safety Program Administration

  • Administer and support continuous improvement of McKinstry’s Safety Program.
  • Conduct audits, reviews, and updates for safety programs.

Training and Compliance

  • Verify subcontractor training meets OSHA requirements.
  • Conduct new employee safety orientations and routine safety meetings.
  • Provide safety training as needed based off annual requirements and project specific hazards.

Incident Management

  • Lead or assist with safety incident investigations and reporting.
  • Document corrective actions and communicate lessons learned.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
     

Skills/Eligibility:

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • One (1) year of construction experience with an emphasis on safety requirements required.
  • Ability to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate action with firmness and tact required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio required.
  • Understanding of applicable federal, state and local safety regulations required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • OSHA 500 certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.
