Safety Coordinator - Bouten Construction (Job)
Description:
The Safety Coordinator will be dedicated to educating and promoting a positive, cohesive safety culture across our organization. The Safety Coordinator will report to our Senior Safety Manager and support our project teams in the proactive implementation of Bouten’s safety protocols to identify and eliminate job site hazards. This position involves daily travel to various job sites, with the office being entirely mobile while officing at project jobsites.

- Assist the Senior Safety Manager with program development including research and document and training material preparation.
- Support field leadership by conducting research, visiting projects, attending meetings, addressing safety concerns, and making recommendations for improvement.
- Use knowledge and independent judgment to provide direction and advice to workers regarding safety practices, policies, and procedures. Determine and implement appropriate corrective measures. Communicate these measures with a positive and educational spirit.
- Conduct safety-related training and lead safety meetings, as needed, in support of Senior Safety Manager and site supervision. Public speaking skills desired.
- Maintain safety related records and assist with company notifications as needed.
- Assist the Senior Safety Manager with incident response and investigation, including taking statements, attending appointments with injured workers, and assisting with reports.
- Periodically attend DIRT card meetings to ensure proper implementation of the documentation and process. Conduct spot checks regularly.
- Become familiar with WAC’s (Washington Administrative Code) 296-155, OSHA 29 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) 1926, and OAR (Oregon Administrative Rules) Division 3, and all other pertinent safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate with trade partners and represent Bouten to resolve potential hazards/hazardous situations. Partner with project teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Conduct routine site inspections, documenting safety related deficiencies. Communicate and follow-up on action items.
- Obtain additional certification and attend professional education opportunities related to safety.
- This position requires regular project site visits to ensure project teams are supported and we are effectively educating and promoting our safety culture. Bouten currently performs work in Northern Idaho, Eastern Washington, Central Washington, and Northeast Oregon.

Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a safety role in the construction industry. Commercial construction preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management preferred.
- Health and Safety (EHS) education and/or certification (CHST, OHST, ASP or CSP) preferred.
- Working knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques, Worker’s Compensation regulations, claims management, and ability to identify and resolves safety hazards.
- Travel to project sites in the regions that we serve.
- Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
