Description:

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist supports implementation of Amentum field and office EHS program and occupational safety and health regulations in support of operations.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Amentum team is engaged in meeting the client’s safety requirements.
  • Ensuring communication and implementation of ASC policies across the Amentum team
  • Provides liaison support to ensure Amentum reporting and tracking of required EHS data and incident reporting processes. 
  • Partnering with ASC EHS leadership to ensure a high level of engagement in implementing a strong safety culture within the Amentum workforce that is fully aligned with the culture and expectations of the ASC model. 
  • Responsible for ensuring all Amentum incidents are reported and investigated per ASC policies and systems as well as being responsible for fully complying with Amentum EHS expectations.
  • Conducts facility and site walk downs in partnership with ASC to monitor performance across a broad range of Safety Practices such as PPE, etc.
  • Supports and provides coaching for safety committee or equivalent teams and may provide safety training as appropriate.
  • Acts as a liaison to the Amentum and subcontractor work force training and work performance
  • Coordinates the implementation of the ASC EHS policies, Safety Management System and project/location specific Safety Management Plans as well as verifying alignment with Amentum policies that may apply. 
  • Conducts and reports the results of safety observations and audits, evaluate corrective action plans, verify implementation of corrective action plans, and analyze EHS data for trends.
  • Accept assignments within the safety team and performs specific duties as may be required.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable rules and regulations including government regulations, standards and policies.
  • Prepare and maintain reports and documentation concerning the aspects of the safety program assigned.
  • Ensure the safety of any subordinates and ensure their compliance with established safety policies, procedures and practices.

Skills/Eligibility:

Required Education, Experience, Certificates and Licenses:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related experience.
  • Certification on either the OSHA 30-hour Construction or OSHA 30-hour for General Industry is required.

 

Expected Skills and Competencies:

  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English to communicate the requirements of the HSE Program.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and willing to continuously improve site EHS processes
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access & Power Point.

 

Preferred:

  • Additional education and/or degrees in a related field preferred.
  • Other formal safety certification such as the Occupational Safety and Health Technologist (OSHT) Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Safety Management Professional (SMP)
