The Students of Color for Public Health have an opening for a Research Collaborations Coordinator.  The goal of SCPH’s Research Collaborations Coordinator is to provide students who are historically underrepresented in research with the opportunity to engage in population health research. This program connects students with researchers at UW/Fred Hutch Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) or its affiliated organizations to complete a two-quarter long volunteer research project under their supervision. In this role, the coordinator will manage communication with CFAR and direct mentorship of the Students of Color for Public Health’s volunteers participating in the program.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Source and coordinate logistics of research projects with CFAR researchers
  • Collaborate on the development of the research projects with CFAR researchers
  • Market application for volunteers and conduct interview process
  • Spearhead marketing initiatives for projects, including planning and hosting the annual Meet the Researchers networking event
  • Serve as point of contact for researchers and students, including administrative needs, conflict resolution, and research mentorship
  • Host “officer hours” for students as needed
  • Support projects’ undergraduate abstract and symposium poster creation as necessary

Skills/Eligibility:

Required skills include:

  • Experience in population health research including scientific writing (abstract) and symposium poster creation
  • Project management experience (or transferable skills that may apply)
  • Interest in anti-racist practices in research and mentorship
