Call for a volunteer research assistant to help with transcribing and qualitative coding - University of Washington (Volunteer)

My name is Kendall Lawley, and I am a PhD candidate looking for a volunteer research assistant to help with transcribing and coding semi-structured interviews for my dissertation. This study aims to better understand how people who identify as lesbian are engaging in HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening. I am particularly interested in identifying potential barriers and facilitators to HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening within this population. Qualitative coding and transcribing are expected to take place from October 1st through November 30th. The RA will be asked to dedicate approximately 10 hours per week to coding and transcribing tasks during this period resulting in approximately 80-90 cumulative hours of work on this project. This is an unpaid volunteer position. The research assistant will be given authorship on any publications that come from this project. There will be one guaranteed publication with the possibility of additional publications. This position can be done virtually and is open to undergraduate, masters, and doctorate-level students.

Skills/Eligibility:
The RA will assist me with transcribing semi-structured interviews that I will conduct. Interviews are expected to be approximately an hour long each. In addition to transcribing interviews, the RA and I will also work together to code transcripts using an inductive coding approach. Some prior experience with Dedoose is required for this position.
