Field Observation - BlueGate Infrastructure (Job)
Description:
BlueGate Infrastructure is an infrastructure investment and development firm focused on grease trap waste (GTW)
pretreatment. We finance, build, and operate processing facilities that receive waste from licensed haulers, treat it, and
discharge clean effluent to municipal sewer systems.
As part of our market study for Washington State, we are hiring a reliable, detail-oriented individual to conduct structured
field observation at a competitor facility in the greater Seattle–Tacoma area. You will support a feasibility study for our
investment. The role involves sitting in a parked car on a public road; a legal, standard market research technique similar to
retail traffic counting - and log commercial truck activity entering and exiting the site.
The data you collect will feed directly into our financial model and market sizing analysis. This is real applied research
supporting a real infrastructure deal in progress. The initial engagement is a short-term contract (roughly 12 field observation
sessions), but there is potential for follow-on analytical work for the right candidate.
What You’ll Do:
• Conduct 12 observation sessions (4 hours each) at two competitor facilities, spread across different days and times of
day, including at least some early morning sessions (6:00 AM start)
• Log commercial truck traffic in a provided Google Sheet: arrival/departure times, truck type and size, company
name/logo, license plate state
• Note observable facility patterns: operating hours, queue lengths, wait times
• Take photos from the public road where visible (optional but helpful)
• Write a brief 1–2 page summary of findings when observations are complete
• Upload all materials (log, photos, summary) to a shared Google Drive folder
Skills/Eligibility:
What We’re Looking For:
• Reliable and punctual — early morning start times (6:00 AM) required for at least one session
• Access to a car and valid driver’s license — you must be able to drive to sites in the greater King County, Pierce
County, and northern Oregon.
• Comfortable sitting and observing quietly for 4-hour stretches
• Able to fill out a structured log accurately and consistently in real time
• Good judgment — you will be working independently in the field with no direct supervision
• No prior experience required; an interest in business, infrastructure, or real estate is a plus
