Fowler graduated from the UW with a degree in marine fisheries biology in 1968 and went on to earn a PhD in pathology from the Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine. Fowler is an internationally recognized expert on the toxicology of metals and has divided his career between academics, government service and private consulting. He looks forward, with this gift, to enabling research by early career investigators into emerging environmental hazards and their impact on public health.
