Anne Turner, associate professor of health services at the University of Washington School of Public Health, has been elected to the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI) for her significant contributions to the field.

Turner is among 23 new fellows who will be inducted into the College at this year’s annual symposium of the American Medical Informatics Association on November 13 in Chicago. She is also an associate professor of biomedical informatics and medical education at the University of Washington.

ACMI is a professional society of elected fellows from the United States and abroad who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of medical informatics and who have met rigorous scholarly scrutiny by their peers.

“The election of ACMI fellows represents the strength and diversity of biomedical informatics with recognition of 23 accomplished individuals who are national and international subject matter experts in the science of informatics as it relates to clinical care, research, education and policy practicing in domains as varied as academic institutions, delivery systems, government and industry,” said ACMI President Suzanne Bakken. “It reflects the growing impact of the field in healthcare.”

The College originated in 1984 with five pioneers in informatics who decided to establish an honorific society to recognize expertise in biomedical informatics. Today, there are nearly 300 fellows.
