Nominations Sought For Community Partner Service Award

Friday, February 27, 2009

The UW School of Public Health (SPH) and the Student Public Health Association (SPHA) are seeking nominations for the third annual Service Award for Community Partners.

Each year, one or more community partners are honored for their demonstrated exemplary support of the school¢s mission and its educational, research, or service goals.* The purpose of the award is to recognize non-SPH collaborators who have shown dedication to working cooperatively with the school¢s students, faculty, staff, and/or administrators to provide service to the SPH and/or increase the school¢s impact in the local, national, or international community. Examples of noteworthy partnerships include, but are not limited to, those that promote community-based public health instruction or training experiences outside of the SPH, strengthen interdisciplinary or academic-community partnership projects in the areas of public health research or practice, or build community alliances that will help bridge public health science and practice. The award will be presented at the 11th Annual Masters in Public Health Practicum Reception on May 19, 2009.

We are asking SPH students, faculty, staff, and alumni to nominate collaborators whom they feel exhibit the qualities we wish to recognize. Preference will be given to nominations of individuals, including those who personify their institutions¢ commitment to collaborating with the SPH and supporting the school¢s mission. Individuals with primary or adjunct faculty appointments (current or emeritus) at the SPH or whose primary, direct, employer is the SPH are ineligible. Nominations are welcome from SPH faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Please feel free to distribute this email to SPH alumni who may not be active on UW email lists.
