UW Biostatistics Ranks No. 1

The Department of Biostatistics at the University of Washington School of Public Health maintained its top national ranking among biostatistics programs.

The department was tied for first with Harvard and Johns Hopkins universities in the latest rankings released March 20, 2018, by US News & World Report. The three departments tied for best biostatistics program under the category of Best Graduate Statistics Programs.

The rankings were based on surveys sent to academics at 109 institutions specializing in statistics. Results from 2013 and 2017 were averaged to compute scores on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being outstanding. The UW Department of Biostatistics scored 4.6.

The School of Public Health is currently ranked sixth overall among schools of public health, while the School’s health administration program is tied for 10th nationally. Neither schools of public health nor health care management programs were ranked this year.
