  • AcademyHealth Student Chapter

    AcademyHealth is the premier professional society for individuals and organizations with a commitment to health services research and healthy policy. The organization brings together stakeholders to address the current and future needs of an evolving health system, inform health policy and practice, and translate evidence into action.

    The UW AcademyHealth student chapter offers a way for students to connect with health services researchers and policy professionals, to stay informed about the latest news and developments in the field, and to attend and network at conferences and events.   • Epidemiology Student Group RSO
    The Epidemiology Student Group works to connect epidemiology students to each other and opportunities within the department. We also work to support student led events and ideas, facilitate departmental feedback, and host social events. Membership is open to all Epi students.     GPSS is the official student government for graduate and professional students at the University of Washington.

  • Health Equity Circle
    The Health Equity Circle is an interdisciplinary organization of University of Washington students and community members focused on creating Health Equity. We believe that for a society to be healthy it must be equitable and that an equitable society is truly healthy. The question of equity, or justice, cannot be separated from health. Therefore, our mission is threefold: To bring students and community members together in an interdisciplinary setting; To educate students and community members about Health Equity; To take action on Health Equity issues through developing relationships on campus and in the larger community.   • Master of Health Administration Student Association  (MHASA)
    The UW Master of Health Administration Student Association (MHASA) is a RSO that is dedicated to the recruitment, education and professional advancement of future health care leaders. MHASA is involved in a variety of areas, including professional development, curriculum and program direction, community engagement and philanthropic activities. All students in the MHA and Executive MHA programs are automatically members of the association and are eligible to serve on committees and access the services offered.   • SLEIGH (Student Leaders Encouraging Integration in Global Health) is a student-led organization within the Department of Global Health that plans events to encourage collaboration between programs and awareness of student, faculty and alumni ongoing research. Members include representatives from each of the four tracks within the DGH (Pathobiology, Implementation Science, and Health Metrics doctoral programs and the Global Health MPH) to promote the integration of perspectives to tackle a wide range of public health challenges.

    We plan events to facilitate collaboration within the DGH and larger SPH communityPast events have included the Integrated Research Symposium on Maternal Health and Research-in-Progress seminarsEvents showcase both faculty and student work and occur throughout the year. Look out for our next symposium in Fall 2020, which will include keynote speakers and breakout sessions to discuss proposals to problems brought up in the talks!

  • Students of Color for Public Health
    Students of Color for Public Health (SCPH) at the University of Washington is an undergraduate-led student organization dedicated to providing a space for students of color interested in public health. SCPH exists in order to create an inclusive space where one can feel validated, motivated, and inspired in the field through professional, academic, and social support. In addition, we strive to promote health within marginalized communities through education and service. Our focus is to work hand-in-hand with local initiatives and leaders to provide communities with improved access to medical, dental, and veterinary treatment, medication, nutritional security, clean water, and health education.
