Race, Health and Society in Britain – Summer B Term Faculty Led Program

The Public Health-Global Health Major has paired up with Health Systems and Population Health Professor Dr. Clarence Spigner to offer the Dark Empire Exploration Seminar at the University of Greenwich campus in London, England.

Students explore historical and contemporary factors responsible for England’s social and health disparities. Led by a Department of Health Systems & Population Health Program Director and Program Operations Specialist for the School of Pharmacy, the course covers British colonization, its National Health Service, anti-immigration, urban riots, LGBTQ issues, Islamophobia, and acculturation and assimilation.  

 

Credits/Course: HSERV 488 Dark Empire (6 credits). Independent Studies, Honors, and Writing Credit options available with prior approval.

Weekly schedule: 4.5 weeks, Mon-Thurs, 10am-3pm, at Greenwich Maritime Campus. (see Study Abroad site for expected dates)

Application and Deadline: Please visit the Dark Empire's Study Abroad Office website.  Applications tend to open late December/early January.  Priority deadline will be designated on the program site but may be extended by request or when program is filled.
