Description
Throughout the Bachelor of Science program in Environmental Public Health, students learn to identify, prevent, and control environmental factors that can damage human health. The program gives the undergraduate student grounding in environmental health sciences and an emphasis in one of three interest areas: Biomedical Sciences, Health & Environmental Science, and Environmental Public Health Practice.
Likely Careers
Environmental Health Specialists are employed by a variety of local, state and federal environmental and public health agencies. In addition, some environmental health specialists work in private industry or with consulting firms, or in other public organizations concerned with one or more aspects of human health and safety in the outdoor and indoor environment, including the workplace and home.

Upon satisfactory completion of the BS in Environmental Public Health, graduates will be able to:
- Meet the competencies for all SPH degrees;
- Describe the major environmental and occupational health hazards;
- Explain the core components of effective risk assessment, risk management, and risk communication and be able to apply them to a broad range of hazards and situations;
- Describe the main rules, regulations, and policies that are used to control environmental health hazards;
- Apply key environmental and occupational health concepts and skills to real-world practice settings;
- Communicate environmental and occupational health related information effectively and professionally with diverse stakeholder groups in multiple formats (e.g., memorandums, policy statements, press releases, FAQs, etc.) and through a variety of media (e.g., email, brochures, social media, etc.).
