Description:

The work will include:

  • Hazardous waste management: Chemical waste collection and storage; radiation waste collection, storage and decay; biological waste collection. (40lbs lifted ~40”)
  • Laboratory assessment walks for safety issue and correction
  • Chemical inventory in laboratories. Physical inventory of current chemicals stored in labs, compare to current written inventory posted to CHILD. Over this time period we will be verifying the current inventory and updating it with help from laboratories at JMB.
  • Life safety device checks weekly
  • Walking the downtown campus to buildings throughout each day. Typically walked between buildings multiple times per day.

 

Skills/Eligibility:

Specialized Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to read gauges on all equipment and distinguish between colors
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. on a frequent basis
  • Aural acuity to distinguish Fire Alarm Systems, Evacuation Alarms, and sounds from all machinery
  • Visual acuity to read written and printed work orders and instructions for all work in the facility
  • Sense of smell to detect whether odors are natural gas, smoke, electrical, mechanical, sewage or roofing
